make something cool every day, days 42-46. Detail shots of Baby book
My final and most extensive piece of the five days. It is (obviously) still in progress, but I thought I’d show you anyway. It is a poem called “I Do” by the amazingly talented spoken word poet Andrea Gibson.
At this point, we had a basic grasp of the letterforms so Cheryl told us to experiment and make something like a logo. Obviously I still need some practice steadying my hand, but overall I am happy with the outcome.
another piece, quotation from Thomas Vasquez.
I only had 5 short days to learn what Cheryl usually teaches a calligraphy at the University of Iowa in a semester, so I had to jump right in. After I learned the basic letter forms in lowercase, we practiced capitals, and then started writing words connected together. This is one of the first pieces that uses both capital and lowercase letters together.
